Kenyon Woods Middle School Orchestra

8th Grade Orchestra is open to any student who participated in the 7th Grade Orchestra. Students with no prior orchestra experience may join at the director's discretion. Instruction in this ensemble will build upon concepts taught in the 7th Grade Orchestra. Students will also continue instruction in music history, music theory, composition, and improvisation. The 8th Grade Orchestra performs three concerts per year in addition to various festival performances.

 

8th Grade Orchestra meets during 4th period every day. In addition to large group rehearsals, students are pulled out of one class per week for a small group sectional. Because of the advanced nature of music performed, students are expected to practice at home regularly. Students are also strongly encouraged to take lessons with a private instructor outside of school.
