7th Grade Orchestra

7th Grade Orchestra is open to any student who participated in Intermediate Orchestra in 6th grade. Students who did not participate in orchestra in elementary school may join at the director's discretion. Focus of instruction is on learning advanced finger patterns, new techniques such as shifting and vibrato, and musical vocabulary. Students will also begin instruction in music history, music theory, composition, and improvisation. The 7th Grade Orchestra performs three concerts per year in addition to various festival performances.

7th Grade Orchestra meets during 3rd period every day. In addition to large group rehearsals, students are pulled out of one class per week for a small group sectional. Because of the advanced nature of music performed, students are expected to practice at home regularly. Students are also strongly encouraged to take lessons with a private instructor outside of school.
